The Following workshops are available:
GBC (Great Ball Contraption)
The Great Ball Contraption is composed of a collection of separate modules that are created and brought together to form a continuous loop. It is similar to a Rube Goldberg machine, but with Lego® balls. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to build your own module and are encouraged to bring it to the show floor following the workshop’s conclusion. You will also learn about the standards and specifications that help define GBC.
HOW TO BUILD CIRCLES OUT OF SQUARES
Come and learn how to build circles out of squares. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to build a circle, cylinder, ellipse, spheres, and more. We’ll use plates, slopes, technic parts and various other pieces to build anything round. You’ll also get to try three different circle-building techniques hands-on.
MICROPOLIS BUILDING
Micropolis is a fan-designed standard for building tiny cityscapes in LEGO®. Come learn the simple guidelines and build a Micropolis-scale local landmark. This workshop will also go over some SNOT (Studs Not On Top) techniques, detailing, and brick geometry.
BUILDING IN RAMSHACKLE STYLE
A workshop not for the purist in building. It involves breaking the rules and cutting and drilling of brick pieces.
FONTS AND LETTERING
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to build various different fonts using bricks. In particular, you’ll get to build three different fonts yourself ranging from easy, medium to hard. Hopefully, by the end of the workshop, you’ll be inspired to create your own fonts.
Workshop kit contains parts for building letters using a variety of styles.
ROOFS AND SPIRES
As the titles says, in this workshop you will learn how to build specific roof types and what building technic you can use. Part of classic roofs are spires like in churches and castles.
STRESSED CONSTRUCTION
Learn to bend the rules of LEGO by building curved shapes using 1×2 LEGO elements.
Workshop kit contains a variety of 1×2 bricks, plates, and panels in a range of colors for making curved shapes.
TOWERS AND TALL STRUCTURES
Always wondered how to create those giant man made structures. Here you will learn how to. Focus will be on how structural strong to make the tall structures.
MOUNTAINS AND OCEANS
To create the natural way of the earth is a skill you will learn in this workshop.
